GED Enrollment & Orientation Details: Please be on time! If you are more than 15 minutes late, we won't have time to begin your testing and you will have to come back another day. During E & O, you can expect to fill out paperwork and receive details about the GED tests and how our FREE classes work. You will also take a pretest in reading and math that will help your teacher determine what you need the most help with. Do your very best, but don't worry. You can't fail this test. That's it! One time only!
General information you need to know. 1. Who does Region 5 Adult Education serve?
We serve adults 18 years or older. We offer classes for GED® Preparation and Career Readiness and English language classes for non-native speakers.
2. Do I have to live in your region to be served?
Nope. Any adult may attend Roanoke Valley - Alleghany Region 5 Adult Education classes, regardless of where they live.
3. Where are classes held?
We offer daytime and evening classes in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem City, Covington, Clifton Forge, Botetourt County, and Craig County. Each class meets twice per week for 2.5 hours per class, with the exception of a Saturday ESL class which meets from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Adult learners can attend the class that best suits their needs. Classes in most locations typically run August through May.
4. What do I need to bring to class?
A notebook and a pencil is all you'll need.
5. Do you offer daycare?
Daycare is not available. Classes are offered at varying times to allow for the different personal schedules.
